The bow locker was repacked after fitting the cable conduit yesterday and a notch cut out of the decking board separating the upper and lower locker space.

Afterwards we went for a walk towards Minshull Lock, but cutting into a field on a footpath for a change, until we met with some young, frisky looking calves and turned back. We got a phone signal for a while and so spoke to Tracey. She has jobs lined up for me when we are in Middlewich, but we do not plan to stay too long.

Brenda went off for another walk in the afternoon with Jemima while I cleaned out the front cratch, removing all the floor tiles and sweeping the deck beneath.

Kevin and Barbara off ‘Champsac’ moored behind Gaia in the late afternoon. ‘Champsac’ was also built by Graeme Cunliffe and was the build before ours. It was good to swap stories.

There have been very many more passing boats today and lots of boats are moored on the mile-long Venetian Straight. It would seem the lock-down has either been lifted, or ignored. Certainly, albiet without the hire boats, the canal would appear to have returned to normal.

Ourselves, we are really looking forward to moving on Thursday and have only stayed so long to reserve the moorings for the boats coming out of Venetian Marina for their gathering.

We have started calling ourselves the “Vuardians of Syke’s”. Volunteer Guardians.
