Brenda went shopping in Nantwich with Jemima. It has been an absolute boom having Danny and Jemima with their car. It means we have not been having to do the fortnightly run into town, which neither of us enjoyed at all, and we will always be grateful.
The girls came back with a lot of shopping. Danny had to meet them at the car with both of our trolleys and, once Brenda had arrived back at the boat, I went up to meet Jemima and help her back.
Brenda reckons we have supplies on board to last at least two weeks. The plan, once we leave here on Thursday, is to make our way slowly into Middlewich.
The bow locker was emptied and conduit cut and fitted to enclose the wiring running to the horn. The conduit has been on board for over a year and it was one of those jobs that I had never got around to but finished up being simple in the end.
Jacob has two ‘Fortnite’ guns with him that fire foam bullets. We have been having great fun with them, although he himself hardly gets a look in. Gaia had to move at one point though, when one of the bullets inadvertently landed in the canal.
We had a BBQ for dinner with the potato recipe that Sonia had given us, new potatoes par-boiled and roasted with oil, garlic and fresh rosemary. This was followed by BBQ’d pineapple in maple syrup and spiced rum which we all shared. The juices were served separately and the pineapple almost thrown away.
More wood was gathered in the evening for another fire which we all stood around enjoying the stars and picking out satellites. We have had some gorgeous nights with the stars although it is a shame that a lot of the sky is blocked by the trees at Syke’s.
