We took the boat up to the marina to fill with water and empty the loo, timing our arrival for 10am when Susan opened. Unfortunately, just as we got to the railway bridge, a boat came out of the marina and onto the pump out stand, so we had to wait our turn.

The rope had been delivered and Susan ordered a 6” roof flue plate for us, it should arrive on Thursday.

It is always a gamble, leaving our spot here, should another boat arrive. However, once again, we moored in the same spot with our cut piece of grass against the back end.

No sooner had we moored than Quentin and Sue off ‘Teasal’ turned up. We had seen them a few times last August while travelling on the Kennet and Avon Canal and again in Oxford and had got on with them really well. While I didn’t recognise them at first, no surprises there, it was good to see them. Also good for them, especially Sue, to see somebody. When we had last seen them in Oxford, they were staying there for Sue to have cancer treatment. She is now all clear but had been strictly isolating on their boat on hard standing at Aqueduct marina, not leaving the boat for days on end.

Jemima left to visit her daughter and grand-daughter in Altrincham for a distancing garden visit. Danny and myself collected more wood from yet another dead tree we had found. The fire has now been burning continuously for 2 weeks.

I started work on the bow fenders for the starboard side but, having had all good intentions for jobs today, didn’t get far, it is Sunday after all.

Brenda cooked a superb Sunday roast lamb dinner. Danny joined us and we ate outside, the day having heated up no end compared to this morning.

Jacob re-joined us at 8pm but quickly retired to his bed. After a night cap with Danny at the fireside, we had earlyish nights.
