Tuesday 31st March 2020

Today was our 41st Wedding Anniversary. 41 years.

We spent the day quietly. Not much option these days. We had breakfast in bed. Prosecco and orange juice, fresh fruit and boiled eggs with soldiers.

In the afternoon we went for another long walk, this time towards Tattenhall Marina but, once past it, the towpath was not in good condition so we turned about and walked in the direction of the Shady Oak again. We walked for 3¼ miles and were out for over an hour. And saw just one person. It is very strange.

We sat in the front cratch and discovered we could watch TV on my phone so watched a few narrowboat vlogs. While there we saw a kingfisher just yards in front of the boat, swoop down and pluck a fish out of the canal. The lighting as the sun sank lower in the sky was really dramatic.

We had salmon cream cheese wrapped in smoked salmon on small circles of toast for starters and a steak dinner.

Reading back on last year’s anniversary, we did exactly the same.

In the evening we had a phone call from John and Irene Markham, good friends from Scotland who we haven’t now seen for a number of years. We all share the same wedding anniversary. We have said we must get together again, post-Corona.

Weather: overcast and colder.
