Friday 10th April
2020 (Good Friday)
We visited the water point for a top up and changed the bed, also
changing over the winter clothing for summer that are stored beneath the bed.
We had made an insert of marine plywood faced with memory foam and covered
in a fitted sheet, that rests against the wooden bulkhead beside the bed so as
to insulate from the cold. Disappointingly, although this is regularly checked,
we found the bulkhead behind has begun to turn black with condensation.
The dehumidifiers that are spread about the boat were recharged. We
get so much condensation over the winter months that most were completely full.
We again spent the late afternoon and into the evening with Lol and Jackie,
including a look around their boat ‘Caramia’. They had bought a lined shell 20
years ago and Lol spent just 3 weeks fitting it out. A lovely fit out too, with
a traditional engine room with a Beta Tug engine.
Such a beautiful day, quiet and peaceful apart from the ever regular
empty trains and the occasional people still walking and cycling the towpaths
although we are in a very remote location.
