Tuesday 28th January 2020

The day started very cold with quite a keen wind, however, this cleared up as the day wore on. Overnight we were definitely ‘Ay-Up’d’ or ‘Eh-Up’d’, as we had Kenny and sue on ‘Ay-Up’ ahead of us, and the new Braidbar boat ‘Eh-Up’ behind us.

After topping up with water, we descended Cholmondeston Lock and called into Venetian for logs and some provisions. Then it was off chasing Kenny and Sue over what is fast becoming very familiar ground. Some boats spend all their time in marina’s and emerge for the same run time and time again, to the nearest pub and back. Not for us.

At Minshull Lock the wind was very strong, making it difficult to line the boat up for the lock. Brenda decided to walk to the planned mooring spot, 3 miles away.

We moored, once again, by the winding hole between bridge’s 16 and 17 outside Church Minshull, in the same spot as when travelling to Nantwich.

By the time we moored, the sun was out and it was quite warm. After showers, we had a quiet afternoon, Brenda reading and myself on Family History.

Of note, the engine clocked up 1,000 hours today, with 1513 miles covered.

Weather: cold and windy to start. A warm afternoon.
