Tuesday 17th until Monday 23rd September 2019

The time away in the caravan was very restful and seemed just what we needed. Initially, we were booked until Friday morning but managed to extend until Sunday night/Monday morning.
We largely spent the first few days resting, watching TV and dozing.
One day we had a long walk along a deserted sandy beach north of Great Yarmouth at a place called Winterton-on-Sea. This was exactly what we had wanted from the time away and we both thoroughly enjoyed the walk.

Another day we booked combined tickets for a ride on a miniature steam railway and a trip on a Broads trip boat. The train journey was good fun and we enjoyed the trip boat. The Broads are beautiful but we would imagine that holidaying on them for a week would maybe get boring. Much of the same scenery, no locks to break the journey and few isolated moorings.

We also had a local walk around Burgh Castle and along the river. The castle is a Roman ruin that sits on the banks of the River Waveney at the confluence of it and the River Yare. Gorgeous views over the surrounding countryside and, with it being flat, you could see for miles.
We journeyed home along the A47 through Norwich, Kings Lynn, Peterborough and Leicester. The journey was long with sat-nav taking us through endless housing estates in Leicester before ignoring it and picking up the M69 11/2 hours after reaching the city.
While the paint job on the roof is looking good, there are still two coats of anti-slip paint to be applied and it doesn't look as though the job will be complete before Friday.
We met with Gareth to discuss a full paint job and have booked in for March/April 2021. This will include the cabin sides and hand rail, hull blackening and replacing of the window and porthole linings which are splitting anyway. The  whole job will take about 6 weeks so we are planning a long holiday.
