Thursday 6th June
2019
There have been a few anniversaries regarding Bridge Street over these
last couple of weeks. The boat was launched on 17th May and we moved
on her on the 21st. However, we were then stuck in Swanley Bridge
Marina until the 6th June when we left the marina and headed for Middlewich.
The 6th June, we regard as our D-Day and so today marks our
first anniversary.
Brenda went shopping in preparation for a celebration dinner this
evening while I went to Machine Mart for a different type of filter wrench. The
type we have is a chain type and is difficult to use with the restricted access
on our engine. One of the boats moored in the dock has just done the Severn
Crossing and he has a magnetic inspection light that he used as a stern light,
so I was to try and buy one of these. Machine Mart did have filter wrenches but
not the type of inspection light I wanted. They directed me to a retail park
that had a Halford’s and a couple of tool suppliers. “Only a minute up the road”.
I should have known better. I walked via Warsaw, Lagos and Lebanon to get there.
Gloucester is not a nice place away from the dock area.
Eventually I did get the light I was looking for but, by the time I
returned, I had walked over 5 miles.
We had prosecco in the front cratch but were called by people moored
with us in the docks for a drink in the bar next to us.
This was followed by a lovely meal of smoked salmon mousse and a steak
dinner. And quite a bit of reminiscing over our first year on board.
