Our 40th, Ruby, Wedding Anniversary. Wouldn’t change a thing. We spent it quietly, on our own as we had intended, in a gorgeous location. We both consider that we have always worked hard to get where we are and are now enjoying the fruits.

We do have a joke though, that I have spent half of our married life working away from home, so really, it is only 20 years!!!

We had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with Bucks Fizz for breakfast. A walk around the nature park and time in the front cratch reminiscing with the odd drink throughout the afternoon.

Then our dinner. A typical 1970’s menu with 21st century refinements. When we were first married you always aspired to eating out with a prawn cocktail followed by a steak dinner. Then you know you had made it!

We had avocado and prawn cocktail, with a sprinkling of Paprika. A refinement unheard of in the 70’s. And a steak dinner with onions, mushrooms and tomato, chips and salad. The refinement being, the steak was not well done, and the salad had a dressing. For dessert, lemon tarts and cream.

We both had a really nice day with much reflection.
