October 2018
Nothing much about today really. It rained heavily most of the morning
but the rain eased off later and had stopped by 3pm. Of the forecast wind, we
didn’t have any.
Just before midday we walked into town. Market Harborough has a
population of 23,000 so is just less than Northwich, and yet its town centre
and range of shops is far superior. We were seeing it in the rain and nothing
really appeals in the rain. So we had a quick walk around, bought a few things
and then returned to the boat. We really spent the afternoon doing not a lot.
We are meeting with Mike and Pip, who we met in Mountsorrel, tomorrow
and so intend to stay here and explore the town on Monday. The moorings are for
48 hours only and incur a charge of £10 for every day over. So be it if they
clock us.
We discussed our future plans. We intend to move to Foxton on Monday
afternoon and spend a day there exploring. Braunston is 5 days cruising, at our
speed, from Foxton. Once in Braunston, we plan to stay quite a while and there
decide where to go next. We are still aiming for Gloucester, but will not make
it this year due to the stoppages.
