2018
After a good cooked breakfast, we went for a walk. Firstly, over the
canal bridge and up the hill to get the views of distant Middlewich. We then crossed
back over the bridge and walked across the fields to the River Dane. The river
at this point takes a few tight bends that have led to sandy edges in places
and some deep water. We spent a few hours here having great fun paddling, skimming
stones and trying to catch the little fish in our hands.
Great fun doing things from your own childhood that costs nothing.
We got back to the boat just before 1pm to find a boat had left
Bramble Cutting. Brenda reckoned we could get in but I had my doubts. We got the
boat ready to move in the quickest time ever and reversed the 100 yards up the
canal and we just, and no more, got into the vacant space. Only to find within
5 minutes two other boats had left.
We all explored around Bramble Cuttings again and the kids amused
themselves for the afternoon making bows and arrows and dens out of bits of
wood and tree branches. It made for a really good last day and an end to their holiday
with us.
We had another barbeque from meats left in the freezer but a big shop
is needed in Middlewich, it seems ages now since any shopping was done.
Another very hot day.
