We left Bramble Cutting late on and cruised the two miles to Billinge Green Flashes. There are many moorings here but the best has pilings to moor to and has the best view across the flash.

However, there was a boat already there. We could have moored next to him but this boat was at Bramble Cutting when we were there. There was no movement from the boat at all and so, at 2.30pm Brenda knocked to make sure everything was OK with them. It turned out the occupant was a guy on his own. A strange character. Best avoided.

So we moved across the flash to where we could moor next to the stone bank because we wanted to blacken the side. It was not the best mooring. The view across the flash was restricted and there was a ledge. So we got to use our tyre fenders. They worked fine.

The side was blackened and looks so much better for it.

We were going to barbeque for dinner again but Brenda decided to cook belly pork instead. It was lovely, but a big mistake, cooking in that heat.

Day Total: 0 locks; 2 miles; 0 Tunnels; engine running hours 0.5

Overall Total: 99 locks; 187 miles; 8 tunnels; engine running hours 108.0

Again, we were discussing future plans and have decided on an alternative route to head south. The whole length of the Trent and Mersey Canal, taking in the Caldon en-route. Possibly the Erewash Canal. Then the Rivers Trent and Soar to Leicester passing on to the Grand Union Leicester Line. Through Braunston to Napton Junction. Through Warwick to Stratford-on-Avon and Gloucester.

A long run.

Once Sandra has finished repairs and modifications.
