We had a planning meeting between the four of us. We have identified reasons we are reluctant to leave Syke’s Hollow. On the one hand, we are genuinely reluctant to start cruising again as per CRT’s guidelines. We would rather stay a further few weeks to see if there is any increase in Covid cases after relaxing the lock-down. On the other hand, we have become comfortable here and we have to leave at some time, but we will be sad to leave Danny and Jemima, we have all become firm friends.
We decided to leave before the weekend and, after filling with water and emptying the loo, Danny would drive to Calveley with our rubbish, and we would then take a fortnight or so travelling down the branch to Middlewich, together, before parting company.
Brenda then went up to the chandlery to collect shopping from Susan. When she mentioned our plans, Susan asked why we thought we had to move at all. One reason had been that we have been on what would normally be a very popular mooring spot for the marina dwellers emerging for the weekend and not wanting to spoil their fun. However, Susan would have her finger on the pulse regarding their feelings and so if she doesn’t see a problem, we are staying put.
A boat arrived mid-morning and moored almost touching our front end. No distancing there then. Originally, they were stopping just for a BBQ but then stayed. While, obviously, we don’t and can’t object, a bit of space in these times would have been appreciated.
The afternoon was spent teaching Danny more knots, specifically a Turks Head for his barge pole. It was far too hot for much else. Later we both sat in shade and read.
We heard in the evening, that Aaron had comfortably passed his pre-university assignment with a respectful percentage, meaning he is now definitely on the Paramedic’s course starting in July.
We waited up to witness the passing overhead of the space station, being followed by the manned, SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that was supposed to dock with it, but the launch was postponed due to the weather and rescheduled for Saturday.
