We were up early and on the move before 8am. The cruise into Nantwich,
over now very familiar ground, was uneventful. We stopped at the service point,
watered up, doing a bedding wash, dumped rubbish and emptied the loo before
moving further down the embankment and mooring.
We did two shopping runs, one to Boots, where we had to queue for 45
minutes, the fishmonger, butchers and Morrisons. With all the heavy items
strapped to the sack trolley, it makes the shopping lot easier, but it is still
a long way back to the boat.
While Brenda unpacked, I visited the chandlery for some cable to fit
more 12V charging points and some isolation valves for the water pump, items
that Susan doesn’t have. We then did a second shopping run, this time just to
Morrisons, but this time, for some reason, they would not allow us in the store
together. The world is a crazy place at the moment.
Then another trudge back to the boat. Brenda unpacked while we cruised
up to the winding hole and we dumped the packaging in the bins at the service
point on the way past. Then we were headed, once again and with much relief,
back out into the countryside, leaving Nantwich behind us.
A lot of people are obviously getting fed up with the lock-down and
not getting the message of a possible second peak in deaths. Although there
were a few more cars about, there was significantly more people. Whether this
was just the time of day or not, but it was noticeable.

On the outskirts of the town, we came across Lol and Jackie and
stopped for a chat, then gave Lol a lift to Barbridge to collect their car. The
rain was intermittent on the run to Venetian, but it was not long before we
moored just above the lock. It had been a long and hard day, but needs must and
we consider ourselves luckier than most.
We both really enjoyed our dinner of fresh trout, Jersey Royal new
potatoes and salad. So nice to have fresh food again.
