Last night was a ‘Pink’ Supermoon, but we had almost complete cloud cover and, although the moon was bright, we missed most of the spectacle.
The moon follows an elliptical orbit around the earth and, when a full moon coincides with the moon passing closest to the earth, it is said to be a ‘supermoon’.
In recent years, full moons have been given Native American Indian names. April’s full moon is derived from the name of one of the first spring flowers, Phlox, or “Moss Pink”.
Hence the name Pink Supermoon.
Brenda called at the Chandlery and managed to buy milk and bread. Bless Susan for being so well stocked.
Water is the factor that dictates when we have to move. However, we are well placed here with a water point about ¼ mile away. We retrieved our sack trolley from the bow locker and walked with two water containers to the water point to fill. Talking to boaters on the way there and on the way back, took 5 hours. So another day passed but no complaints. Lovely to be able to pass a day in this way.
We spent the remainder of the day in the front cratch attempting to relearn the cabin string ropework. It had been a lovely hot day and we went to bed with the tingle of mild sunburn.
