It was a gloriously clear still night last night. The moon, not quite
full, was very bright and, although they were all quite dim on account of the
moon light, the constellations gave a wonderful display.
Harvey again had us up early but it was a beautiful morning. The grass
was white from frost and the early sun was causing a mist to drift on the
surface of the water.
Halsall, the fuel boat appeared mid-morning and we bought another two bags
of coal from them. Halsall covers from Anderton to Ellesmere Port and then
around the Four Counties Ring. The Ring is serviced every two weeks and
Anderton and Ellesmere Port on alternate fortnights. With many marinas now
being closed, boats are relying more on the travelling fuel boats for supplies.
Lee and Roberta had been working 15 hour days for the last two weeks of
covering the Ring and both looked absolutely exhausted and well in need of
their coming 3 days’ rest.
We had a walk in the direction of Barbridge Junction, walked about 2
miles. Other than the walk, the day just passed and was over before we really knew
it, without doing or achieving anything it seemed. A thoroughly lazy day.
