Brenda went back into Leek to the EE shop. We have been having trouble with our internet costing a fortune, everybody we had been talking to reckoned we were getting ripped off. When we rang O2 they could not understand why it was costing so much, but they had sold us the package. People had been telling us that EE provided the best service for on the canals with the best coverage. We had called into the EE shop yesterday and they were gobsmacked at how much we were paying.

Our package with O2 costs from between £80 and £120 per month and has to be continually topped up. The package with EE will cost £34 per month for unlimited internet access. A massive difference and a massive saving.

Brenda then spent her time looking around the shops on her own, but didn’t feel her heart was really in it. A shame really because we spend so much time in each other’s company and this would have been an ideal opportunity for her to have time to herself.

I stayed on the boat doing jobs. A new coal shelf has been made for the roof that is supported by the gangplank holders on each side, so that nothing rests on the roof so as to protect the paintwork.

The engine was checked over after the recent service and new matting was in the process of cutting when Brenda arrived back.

Later we again walked up to Home and Bargains for more decking to complete the coal shelf and new battery operated lights for the front cratch. Brenda had walked 6½ miles today and we are both sick of walking the length of Barnfield Road.

Weather: a reasonable day with light drizzle late afternoon.
