Sunday 29th September 2019

We had what we felt was a well-earned lay-in, followed by boiled eggs in bed. We mooched around all morning when we had a shout from outside and, lo and behold, it was Ian and Carol-Ann passing on their boat.

We had last seen them on a hire boat at Wheelock in June of last year, when we were travelling between Sawley Bridge Marina and Middlewich on our maiden voyage. We hit it off from then and we became the inspiration for them following the dream, giving up work and buying and moving onto their own boat. We had been in regular touch since but it was great to see them again. They moored just beyond us, came on board and we cracked a celebratory bottle of Prosecco.

Aaron rang shortly after to say he was 20 minutes out so I walked to the Swan to meet him. The proprietors of the pub had recognised us when we had called earlier to book a table for dinner, never sure if it’s a good sign or not, when a publican recognises you, and were good enough to allow him to park for the few days he would be here.

In the evening we all congregated in the pub for dinner and then back to our boat.

It was a long day!
