An awful day of weather today. Heavy rain and windy all day. We hardly left the boat other than to take the dog out and a short walk to ease my back. The bank is fitted with a rubber piling but our rubbing strake sits beneath it so, whenever we move on the boat, or she gets buffeted by the wind, the boat rocks quite alarmingly with a banging noise. A football then floated down the canal and became wedged between us and the bank and it acted as a very effective fender. I’ve a mind to take it with us when we leave.

We have been binge watching another series of Vikings and have booked our holiday for September when the boat will be having a roof paint. A Riviera Travel trip taking in Washington DC, New York and Niagara Falls.

Despite being surrounded here by big office blocks and university buildings, there are very few people about.

These are 48 hour moorings so, strictly speaking, we should move tomorrow. However, we are well off the beaten track boat traffic wise and haven’t seen a single boat since being here.
