Storm Gareth was forecast for today with high winds and rain. While it rained first thing this morning and has been cold all day, the storm never came to much.

Our Asda online shop turned up right on time. The van parked on the access road for Fradley Junction and, although the van was blocking the road, it was just 6 feet from the boat. He was also delivering to the coffee boat behind us so had a double delivery but all done very quickly. I’ll bet there’s not many houses get their food delivered 6 feet from their back doors. Not only was it our first online shop, it was also the first time the driver had delivered to a boat. It was exciting for us and so much easier to have all this delivered direct to the boat, we wonder why we haven’t pursued it before. We will continue to visit local butchers and green grocers because we like to support local businesses wherever possible. But having heavy shopping delivered to the boat will save us so much carrying. And Harvey and myself having to wait outside in all weathers.

Painting has continued with the porthole bungs and Brenda has started to make the fabric covers for them. The outer face of the bungs are being painted Graphite Grey to match the panel on the hull. When the boat was being painted, Graeme had so much trouble with this paint, he didn’t like it one bit. I can see why. It is terrible paint to use, very thin and watery, and is going to require at least 4 coats.

We watched a bit of TV then went for a walk to Fradley village. Our 12-year-old guide show just a small village but today it is very big and there are actually two villages, one each side of the canal. We called into the local chemist and Co-op as potatoes had been missed off the online shop.

Weather: very windy and heavy rain in the morning, easing off as the day wore on and a nice afternoon.
