Sunday 14th
October 2018
Awoke early to the noise of rain and water drops from the overhanging
trees landing on the roof. It rained heavily all day, only easing off in the
early afternoon and not stopping until after 3pm. We didn’t move. Lovely when
you don’t have to.
We saw five boats pass us today, all looking thoroughly miserable.
We spent the day catching up on the diary after not having internet
for the time in Welford, a few jobs, watching TV and Brenda doing more on the
first porthole bung which is looking good.
Went for a short walk after the rain stopped. We are moored just after
bridge 37. According to the guide at bridge 36 there is the site of a Medieval Village.
It is not the first time we have seen this on the guide but again, there was no
sign of it. To the right of the canal is Stanford Reservoir that supplies
nearby Rugby, another reservoir on the River Avon, with its water, and to the
left are the Hemplow Hills.
We had a Sunday dinner of roast lamb. It seems a long time since we
have had a home cooked Sunday roast and it was lovely and went down very well.
It was dark tonight just after 6:30. A couple of episodes of Game of
Thrones and an early night.
How do people fill their evening once Game of Thrones has been completed
to the last?
