Brenda got a lift into Great Haywood to pick up our post, from a guy on the boat behind us. This guy, Chris, we had spoken to at length when we first moored on Saturday. He is Cornish and also a continuous cruiser. However, he still has a car and bridge hops, staying for two weeks in a place at a time. Each to their own. A life like that would drive us crazy. After two days in a place we find we are ready to move on. But then we are still new to it so we will see.

Tracey arrived with the kids about midday bringing load of shopping with her. It was good to see them all again. Eva cried when it came time for her mum to go home. Silly girl.

Brenda returned not long after. Our post had not yet arrived.

Once Tracey left, we set off. We were aiming for Tixall Wide, a slight deviation down the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, but well worth it for the views.

We slowly cruised down to Great Haywood where we watered, emptied the toilet cassette and dumped rubbish at long last. Also bought a gas cylinder as the original one was changed out this morning. So this had lasted us for over 3 months. The replacement cost £28.

We then turned and headed for Tixall Wides. The moorings here are at an absolute premium. The whole length seemed to be full but one right at the beginning was empty so we moored there, just as well as all the other spaces were indeed taken.

Had our dinner. Cottage pie, one of the kid’s favourite. And then the fishing gear came out.

Score: Manny 0; Eva 3; Grandad 4.

And grandad had by far the biggest, a nice bream.
